Obsidian Movie!

Big news! Obsidian has been optioned for a movie by Sierra Pictures! EEEEP! Who wants to see the sexy Daemon and feisty Kat on the big screen? I sure as hell do! The details have not been released yet, but when they are, I'll be sure to post them. Until then...
Oh yeah! Movie trailer! This book is seriously amazing; just one of the reasons I love Jennifer L. Armentrout, though I must admit I rather fell in love with her Covenant series first. I've never wanted a book character to be real more than I wanted Aiden St. Delphi to be. Really. Updates will be posted! Until then, see ya!

Pretty Little Lies by Jennifer Miller

Excerpt:
"When I saw you last night, I just knew this was my second chance. Our second chance." -Luke

Olivia has just gone through a very nasty divorce, and high tailed back home to Chicago to live with her best friend, Pyper. Now Pyper is all about fun, and decides to get Olivia to start dating again through dating sites and speed dating. One night at a club, they meet Olivia's first boyfriend and first love Luke. He wants her back after seven years, so now what is Olivia to do?

This book recently came out, and I finished it in one sitting, I love the storyline! There was humor, cute fashion tips, romance, adorable dates, forgiveness, and of course, second chances. I think that this book was great with the flashback so we can see what have happened in Olivia's life that led to how she is today. I love the fact that Pyper is so fun, and how she is such a great friend to Olivia. There were also cute fashion tips in the beginning of each chapter, which I think, are actually pretty good tips to take. The events that unfolds in the books were hilarious, we were able to go through each of her dates until she met her first love, Luke. Now Luke is hilarious, sweet and HOT! He made a mistake when they were young that led to their break up, and Olivia had left the city before he got a chance to apologize. Now after all these years, he finds Olivia again, and he's willing to do anything to get her back. It's so funny how he tries to sabotage her dates, and it's so romantic and sweet when he takes her on dates.
However, even though this book have a great story line, amazing characters and hilarious events. There are some problems I found. First of all, the book was way to detailed, just way to detailed. I didn't need to know about every single one of her thoughts, every item she decided to wear (although, some of the outfits did sound adorable), and every action she wants to take. It slows down the storyline so much more, leaving parts of it a bore. Now, Luke can be adorable, but I find him just a bit annoying, and just a bit too sweet for a typical guy, some of the stuff he says makes me wonder if he actually has balls. One more thing that I didn't really like about the book is that all the characters lives are pretty perfect. Not completely, but enough that you can tell the author made sure that her main characters had the best, and never needed to worry about anything else upset the problems she wants her characters to focus on which is mainly all on their love lives. You see, Pyper has everything with her rich daddy, Olivia doesn't have to worry about rent due to Pyper and she has an amazing job as a fashion blogger/journalist. Both girls can afford to go shopping and buy designer clothing. Luke's dad owns a beer company, and he practically just strolls around finding ways to make Olivia happy and to win her back (although I don't mind it that much). But still, you see how I mean how all their lives are almost perfect? Oh yea, and one more thing I really dislike... IT ENDS IN A CLIFFHANGER!
SIGH! I have to wait, who knows how long to see what happens between Olivia, Luke and Pyper! I don't wanna waiiit!!

HAPPY READING! -Kay

Pieces of Lies by Angela Richardson

Pieces of Lies (Book #1)
Excerpt:
I lie in bed at night, surrounded by darkness that haunts me. It crawls underneath the covers and gets in my head. The darkness laughs at me, it makes me remember, it reminds me who I really am. And all I want to do is hide, and be someone different, someone normal, someone without fear. So I find solace in music that moves me; that fills me with words that speak to my soul, and gives me hope that there are others as troubled in this world, who might know my kind of pain. With earphones plugged in, my eyes closed tightly, I curl up on my sheets. I listen to A Beautiful Lie by 30 Seconds to Mars  and I think about how I am the person in that song, walking the world in a beautiful lie. I can survive when I’m not drowning in the ugly reality of my own truth.I feel tears streak down my face because I know that with any kind of lie, it’s only a matter of time before all the pretty walls come crashing down.

Norah Ross, a girl full of secrets who hides away in her world of art and music. Josh, her long time best friend who recently got accepted into the secret society called the Lappell. One night, he took her to one of their dances and that night everything changed. She met Clint and in the moment those two had an instant attraction, this is great since he had no idea about her past. But her secrets was slowly crawling out of the hole she buried them in and soon everything she spent so long trying to keep hidden will be brought to light.

Kay's Review:
This is the first book I'm read from Angela Richardson, and it was a really good romance in my opinion. There were lies, deceit, love and so much more, exactly what you would've expected from a book with a secret society, members from it, and two gorgeous boys vying for one girl. The length was perfect for a summer read, something just long enough but not too short either. I prefer may long thick books for the autumn and winter when I can curl up in my bed. The sun is just too inviting and I want to go out everyday!
Now on to the boys! Josh, the long time best friend that has always been there for her, and the new boy in her life Clint. The typical rich American boy, has women flirting with him date and night, money to through around, and a huge mansion to throw balls in. Yes, like Cinderella type balls. Clint and Norah had an instant attraction that in a few chapters of fighting they end up together, perfect wonderland. But no, with him being part of a secret society things are bound to happen. Assignments he has to do, and when one involves her, she runs straight back into Josh's arms. Until she realizes he's part of something too. But with both boy's declaring their love for her, she needs to make a decision, until her ex-fiancé comes back from the shadows, declaring his love still for her.
Now what is a girl to do? Especially when we discover who she really is! That is when the whole book gets exciting! Norah uses what she knows to save herself, and the three boys she cares so much about. But of course those three continues to meddle... but they still save her. So who is she going to choose?
I really recommend this book to those who love romance, love triangles, secrets, lies and deceit, all wrapped up into one!

Dance of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin

Excerpt:
My father is a murderer. My brother is dead and my best friend is dying of a disease my father may have created. It's a refrain that's repeated over and over in my mind, through feverish dreams, and even now. And yet... my father is the gentlest man I know.

The stunning conclusion sequel to the Masque of Red DeathDance of the Red Death is the book that hold all the life changing actions Araby shall makes. Will April live through the plague and be cured? Who will Araby choose? Elliott or Will? What would happen two the great leaders on either side of the chessboard? Will Prospero or Malcontent take over the city, as well as Araby's life? Or will Elliott, the great white knight come and save the day? The book holds the rest of the story of Araby's adventure on her goal to save all those she cares about and to choose the one who she must truly love.

The first book of the series left my holding the book in shock, screaming in agony that the sequel is SOOO FAR AWAY! and finally, its in my hands. I devoured the book in one sitting, and in the end I was left... content, with all the answers in my hands. I have to remember that this adventure's isn't my own but Araby's. The choices are not mine but hers, and I have to say she the choices she made were quite up her alley. The beginning of the book wasn't as action-filled as a would've like. It was mostly plotting and Araby going in to save the day. One thing for sure, April really did shine in the book, up to the end. Elliott played a large role with Araby in the book, much more then Will's, and this was a bit of a disappointment, I would've like to see more of him. This book also finally gave us a chance to attend one of Prospero's elaborate balls, and to see the final stand between him and Malcontent. All in all, I think the ending was a fitting conclusion, however I would've preferred to learn more into Malcontent and Prospero's schemes and plans. As well as finding out more about how the other characters had ending up in the end.

Happy Reading! -Kay
