Frigid by Jennifer L. Armentrout

'Kyler stepped closer, tipping his chin down. "What are you thinking about?"
"Snow bunnies," I replied.'
-Frigid, page unknown.

For twenty-one-year-old Sydney, being in love with Kyler isn’t anything new. They’d been best friends ever since he pushed her down on the playground and she made him eat a mud pie. Somewhere over the years, she fell for him and fell hard. The big problem with that? Kyler puts the ‘man’ in man-whore. He’s never stayed with a girl longer than a few nights, and with it being their last year in college, Syd doesn’t want to risk their friendship by declaring her love.
Kyler has always put Syd on a pedestal that was too high for him to reach. To him, she’s perfect and she’s everything. But the feelings he has for her, he’s always hidden away or focused on any other female. After all, Kyler will always be the poor boy from the wrong side of tracks, and Syd will always be the one girl he can never have.
But when they’re stranded together at a posh ski resort due to a massive Nor’easter, there’s nothing stopping their red-hot feelings for each other from coming to the surface. Can their friendship survive the attraction? Better yet, can they survive at all? Because as the snow falls, someone is stalking them, and this ski trip may be a life-changer in more ways than one.

Arya's Review: This is Frigid by the amazing Jennifer L. Armentrout, and boy is it sexy! It made me cry, it made me burst out in laughter, and it made my heart stop in anticipation. I almost died of anticipation waiting for it! Jen's genius just took me on a roller coaster of emotions when I read it. However, having read J. Lynn's other material, I couldn't help but notice that Frigid's plot was very similar to that of 'Tempting the Best Man'. They both started out with girls wanting an unattainable guy who they believe only see them in a familial light. However, both guys love the girl completely, and they both sleep around. It also struck me that they both run, or are set to rub clubs... weird... The family background of the two men was also rather similar, and it bothered me. Kyler is an amazing character, but he resembles Chase Gamble far too much; their plots are near identical, and so it was hard to enjoy the book when all it felt like was a copy of Tempting the Best Man with different characters and different circumstances. However, judging on the book alone, it was amazing!
Sydney is a headstrong girl who knows exactly what she wants in life, but is just too afraid to get it. Through out the book though, she grows and becomes more mature, even if it just is by accident. Throughout the entire book, she never stopped showing absolute love for Kyler, no matter how many times he hurt her. She's insecure, having been hurt by a past experience, but she learns to go past it and enjoy her time with her love. It's so cute!
Kyler on the other hand, well isn't he just a sex bomb? He is one of the sexiest men I have ever read about, and he loves Sydney so completely; it's adorable! The brokenness in him, instead of repelling me, just made me love him all the more. No matter how many girls he was with, he was always devoted to Sydney, never stopped loving her even for a second. It was just so completely breath-taking. I loved it.
The way they both pine at each other, both never telling at each other, it just drove me crazy sometimes! I just screamed at them, "Hurry up and make out!" I wanted to, but that wouldn't really make a very good book...  Either way, they were an adorable couple with ups and downs that made a fantastic story! I would recommend this book to everyone!

And my rating...

9 stars out of 10! I love you Jennifer Armentrout!

And now we pass the time to Kay, who also read the book! xDD

Kay's Review:

This is the first time I've read a book by Jennifer L. Armentrout, and I have to say it did not disappoint! I finished the book in one sitting, and found it quite intriguing. It's like the typical best friend turned lovers type of book. The story is quite fast paced as well as full of drama so you don't need to worry about finding a lot of time to finish and you don't need to worry about being bored. The writing was in two points of views, Kylar's and Sydney's. I love that, I love finding out how each of them felt after an embarrassing, but sexual-filled tension encounters. It's so rare to find a love story with the guy's point of views as well, and I love the fact that Armentrout did that.
The book was filled with some material that I would suggest to older readers, and those parts were VERY hot and steamy. The ending was quite cute however, a short visit to the past for both our characters as the reunite.

My rating:
8.5/10

Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay

The Sea of TranquilityExcerpt:
It’s empty, save for one boy, sitting right in the middle. It might not seem strange except for the fact that every other bench in this place, in truth every other place where a person could justifiably put their ass, is filled. Yet there is no one sitting on that bench, except him. When I look more closely, there’s no one even hanging around in the immediate vicinity. It’s like there’s an invisible force field surrounding this space and he’s the only one inside it. Curiosity claims me, and I momentarily forget my purpose. I can’t help but look at the boy. He’s perched on top of the backrest, his worn-out brown work boots planted firmly on the seat. He’s leaning over with his elbows resting on his knees in a pair of faded jeans. I can’t see his face very well. His light brown hair hangs tousled over his forehead, and his eyes are cast downward at his hands. He’s not eating; he’s not reading; he’s not looking at anyone. Until he is. And then he’s looking at me. Crap. (P. 21)

BOOK SUMMARY:
I live in a world without magic or miracles. A place where there are no clairvoyants or shapeshifters, no angels or superhuman boys to save you. A place where people die and music disintegrates and things suck. I am pressed so hard against the earth by the weight of reality that some days I wonder how I am still able to lift my feet to walk.

Former piano prodigy Nastya Kashnikov wants two things: to get through high school without anyone learning about her past and to make the boy who took everything from her—her identity, her spirit, her will to live—pay.

Josh Bennett’s story is no secret: every person he loves has been taken from his life until, at seventeen years old, there is no one left. Now all he wants is be left alone and people allow it because when your name is synonymous with death, everyone tends to give you your space.

Everyone except Nastya, the mysterious new girl at school who starts showing up and won’t go away until she’s insinuated herself into every aspect of his life. But the more he gets to know her, the more of an enigma she becomes. As their relationship intensifies and the unanswered questions begin to pile up, he starts to wonder if he will ever learn the secrets she’s been hiding—or if he even wants to.

This book was remarkable, one about second chances, feelings of lost and loneliness. Two people reaching out for each other, and the story of what happens. I find the writing so in depth, but not like in intelligence, but so in depth with meaning. I love how Nastya and Josh finds each other, and how they immediately accept each other's presence with no questions asked. Their ways of helping each other, being there for each other, and comforting each other is thoughtful yet meaningless to others if you don't understand. They stay in the boundaries their high school peers put them in, but underneath they ignore them and do as they wish. The supporting characters in the book is their, not for the sake of being there and to give it more action. But each one of them has a step or a way that helps uncovers the two character's secrets and to help them live through whatever pain they had. The way this story is laid out with these characters allows me to cry and feel the pain for each of them. This story also breaks through stereotypes, and show us how everyone is still human with their own struggles. Their problems may have have seem a bit false however, but all in all I think that this story is one worth reading.

Fanmade trailer, but it's good!

Happy Reading! -Kay
P.S I'm sorry for such a weird and short review... but I just can't find the right words ...

JK ROWLING HAS A NEW BOOK! PLUS MORE ON ALLY CARTER AND STEPHENIE MEYER!

JK ROWLING HAS WROTE A CRIME FICTION NOVEL UNDER A PEN NAME!
YES! IF YOU HAVEN'T HEARD! OMGOMGOMGOMG ANOTHER BOOK FROM JK ROWLING! (Arya: I actually just heard about this today too xD I can't wait to read it, but it'll have to wait... Frigid is still to be read! I wonder if Kay read it yet... Ah well, next time!) I haven't gotten a chance to read it yet! BUT I'll most likely have a review for you by the end of this month! (UPDATE: KAY: I read it... I think there are more then enough reviews online on it, and personally I think that the book is isn't as good as the HP series! )  The book is called The Cuckoo's Calling! and there are many reasons why she wrote under the pen name. Mostly, it was so there won't be a lot of hype about her new book, and that way people won't be biased.
However, ratings for the book is quite high even before Rowling was found out! The story is a mystery novel (Goodreads Summary) and by the looks of it, it may become a series.... Not entirely sure yet.

I have read The Casual Vacancy by Rowling before, and I find it very different from Harry Potter, which is what I believed to be the reason why many people had disliked it. However, I read it and found that it was quite, I don't know the word... mysterious(?) like feel for the book. I wonder how this book will be ...

Ally Carter MAY HAVE A BOOK BEING TURNED INTO A MOVIE!

YES GUYS! ACCORDING TO HER WEBSITE! The production company that gave us Hunger Games (the movie) is interested in turning her book Heist Society into a movie! The directors on board seems to be the ones who have directed Pitch Perfect! What are your thoughts on this would-be, could-be movie? Personally, I am dreading it and excited for it to happen. First of all, many good book have been ruined by the movie (Twilight , I wasn't a huge fan, but the book wasn't all too bad. Beautiful Creatures I didn't even watch the movie because the reviews were quite bad, and the actor/actresses hadn't even want to act in it in the beginning. Hunger Games, ok I have to admit that it was that bad, but still, it left out/ altered many  parts of the books. World War Z, IT WAS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM THE BOOK, but the zombies) and second of all ... who wouldn't want their imagination characters come to life?
Who is excited? Who doesn't want this to happen ? Who hasn't read it? (If you hadn't and you're interested in spylike mystery thrillers, then I would recommend for you to begin reading Ally Carter's books! )

Other few news about Ally Carter: Her last book in the Gallagher Girls is coming up! United We Spy, the final book in the series is coming out in SEPTEMBER!!! ALSO if you buy the book from Barnes & Nobles, you get an extra chapter in the ending! But that's not all ! Ally Carter is going to write a brand new series, Embassy Row (ally carter on embassy row ), one full of mystery and thrill, and spylike qualities! (I hope!) You can read more on her website http://allycarter.com/ But all in all, I am VERY excited to read them!

One more news for Stephenie Meyer's fans! I was lucky enough to go to a signing and chat with her a while ago, and she told me that she is currently writing the sequel to the host... STILL WRITING.... so don't expect it to come out any time soon... just though to tell you. But the title is the Seeker!

Happy Reading!

Bully by Penelope Douglas

Excerpt:
He appeared to be observing the spectacle, same as me. I could barely make out his face through the dense spatter of leaves, but I knew when he noticed me. His arms stiffened as he supported himself on the windowsill, and his head was bowed in my direction, unmoving. I could almost picture those chocolate brown eyes piercing me.

He didn't wave or nod. Why would he? Absence wasn't going to make his heart grow fonder—clearly. Dread and apprehension used to plague me when this guy was around, but now....I felt a strange mixture of nervousness and anticipation.

I slowly backed up to close and secure the doors. The last thing I wanted was to trip and give away the emotions boiling under my calm exterior. During my time away, I’d thought about Jared, but I hadn't dwelled on him, figuring that time and distance would cool him off.

Perhaps that prediction was too hopeful.

And maybe I wasn't as bothered by his shit anymore. (P.13-14)

Bully
by Penelope Douglas is the first book in the Fall Away series. It is only published as an ebook at the moment.

Kay's Review:

The book Bully was a title that had struck out to me at first, I expected it to be a story about recounting the past, moving on or facing your past, and in a way, this story gave me that. It showed the glimpses of the trouble, Tate, the protagonist, has faced against her former best friend Jared, also the current bully. The story starts off telling us of their last stand off, or bully moment, before Tate leaves for a year.
One year later, the story picks off again and straight into a similar situation that both our bully and our victim went through the year before. The rest of the story continues with fights and background story on what have happened between the Tate and Jared. Both with an attraction with each other, both fighting it. Tate trying to discover Jared's past and made him so mean to her. While Jared is trying to make up for the things he had down to Tate, and trying to hide his past from her. A series of events than lead them together, but at what cost?

I found that the story was a very interesting read, one that gave us a good idea of how the victims must have felt, and how someone can be turned into a bully. There seems to be drama, tension, hate, love, guilt somewhere in each chapter, leaving with excitement at turn. But if you've watch enough TV and read enough books, the story starts to get quite predictable, not entirely. However, it was easy to find reasons for every problem, or how the problem will be resolved. It was way to easy to find our who was behind trouble, and who would win each fight or find out who ends up together. I don't know if that's just me, but it was a very predictable and easy read for me. But I would still recommend it to those who is interested based on the summary and cover.

BOOK TRAILER ! :)
(It's a fanmade one, but it gives a fairly good idea on the story)

Frigid Teaser Countdown: Day 1

One more day! I can survive one more day for sure! Absolutely! But I don't want to! I want that book in my hands right now! I'll make sure to charge my phone tonight so I won't have to stop in the middle of reading it; I'd probably died if I had to! I'm seriously running out of teasers to post up though; it actually took me time to find one that I hadn't already posted!

And apparently I wasn't too into it, either. Taking a long drink, I knew I had to proceed with wise caution. Supposedly I knew this girl - like knew her, knew her - but I couldn't place her face or her ass, which was all kinds of messed up. How could I not know her when I'd most definitely slept with her at some point? Fuck. Sometimes I was sick with myself. She leaned in, pressing her breasts right up under my chin. Okay. I wasn't that sick with myself. "Honey," I said, fingering the bottle. "I'm going to need to breathe at some point."

See that? That my friends is Kyler Quinn before Sydney puts him back into his right mind: loving her like she's a goddess. Only one more day! We can all live until then! Or at least I hope we can... This is also kinda creepy, maybe, but someone posted up a series of pictures of the photo shoot on youtube, so from them, through me, to you, here you go!

So, with love, until tomorrow, when I will probably be screaming my head off in excitement,

~Arya
