The Forever Song by Julie Kagawa

"Jackal's gaze was mocking but dangerous. 'Let's go kill ourselves a psychopath.'"
~Forever Song

Allison Sekemoto once struggled with the question: human or monster?

With the death of her love, Zeke, she has her answer.

MONSTER

Allie will embrace her cold vampire side to hunt down and end Sarren, the psychopathic vampire who murdered Zeke. But the trail is bloody and long, and Sarren has left many surprises for Allie and her companions—her creator, Kanin, and her blood brother, Jackal. The trail is leading straight to the one place they must protect at any cost—the last vampire-free zone on Earth, Eden. And Sarren has one final, brutal shock in store for Allie.

In a ruined world where no life is sacred and former allies can turn on you in one heartbeat, Allie will face her darkest days. And if she succeeds, triumph is short-lived in the face of surviving forever alone.

Arya: Alright, so all of you remember how in the last book, The Eternity Cure, we ended off with Zeke being killed - shh! He was turned into a vampire, but Allie doesn't know that, so no telling. So, of course we started off the book with a seriously dead-to-the-world Allison Sekemoto. I mean, the guy she loved was killed by a psycho vampire. Of course that had some effect on her. Meaning she basically went crazy and fell to the monster inside her. All that time I was sitting there reading, I was like 'No! Allie! The hell do you think you're doing?! Zeke would never have wanted that!' But of course, she's just a book character, so she couldn't exactly hear me. xP Herpderp. Either way, of course, we eventually got to the part where Allie and Zeke met up again. All I can say is holy hell. I mean, just, ah! Of course, the outcome was kind of obvious, but the suspense, the tension, the need to know was gripping me with an iron fist! Didn't help that I was in the middle of class either. It was terrifying! For a moment, I'd truly believed that one of them would come to an end. It was so intense I could barely breathe.
Jackal: Let's start with this guy first, shall we? He went through, such a process it took my breath away. I was just sitting here for so much of it, awed by his heroism. Heroism to describe Jackal. Weird, isn't it? But it's true. At the end, he knew exactly what he had to do, and he did it, even at risk to his own life. But of course, he came out on top, just like he always said he would. There was just one part about him that bothered me. He mentioned that he wasn't just with the group for the cure to Rabidism. Any guesses as to what the reason actually is? Does he love Allie? Does he want Kanin's approval at long last? Or does he want to atone for any sins during his life? Leave your thoughts in the comments! But anyways, just loved this character. I was so sad at the end... but not because of what you think. Just a teaser!
Kanin: I don't know about you, but I was always a Kanin fan over Zeke. I loved his silent strength, his agony over his decisions. Maybe that actually explains a lot about me, but whatever. It always struck me how he could be so strong, yet baring the destruction of the world on his shoulders. At the end, I promise I nearly cried at the end. What he did? It was absolutely awe-inspiring. Maybe it was partly selfish on his part, but to actually go through with it? It was amazing. Julie definitely created a winner with this character.
I can't believe it took me this long to get to Zeke. What can I say about him? How about how he started out as a murderous psycho? Not because he wanted to be, trust, but that's how he started out. The first time I read about him, I was just thinking there was something wrong. It was too easy. It couldn't have been that simple. And it proved not to be. But throughout the book, I got to see this new side of him. Not the compassionate hero he's always been, but a cool, lethal hunter. As I compared the old and the new, there were still traces of the old in him, but most of it had changed, except when he was around Allie. It just made me appreciate him all over again.
Allison: And finally, we get to our main character. Allison just proved how human a supposed monster could be. As I watched her compassionate nature shine through, I was just trying to see Allie the Fringer in her. There was hardly any similar points anymore. Sometimes to me it felt like the Fringer was only half of who she could be, and as a vampire, she finally reached her full potential, and was the person that she was always meant to be. Her transformation just stunned me and awed me into submission. She grew up so much during this last book, and she lost so much that it broke my heart. I wished life could be easier, but considering her circumstances, I doubt I could have done any better. She's awe-inspiring, just like her sire.
All in all, amazing book! I loved it, seriously. There were some parts that were a bit iffy to me, but it caught me from beginning to end. I could barely put it down, even though I knew I had a test to study for xP. It was just so good. Definitely recommend this to anyone who loves vampires.

The depths of Arya's mind is a wicked place, and from it comes...

9.5 stars!
Well done! So looking forward to your next book!
If there are characters as wonderful as all your other books, it'll definitely be a winner!

However, until that next book, much love from us to you. Keep reading and enjoying the Infinite Worlds

“This engrossing thriller packs a heady atmospheric punch with plenty of theatrical scares,” Kirkus Reviews

“Armentrout has written another winner. From the first page to the last, she builds both terror and confusion to the point where readers will be hooked and on the edge of their seat. This standalone contains all of Armentrout’s usual trademarks– a strong and determined heroine, witty comments and hot guys–but she adds in an extra layer by ratcheting up the suspense to the highest degree and follows it up with an ending no one will see coming.” RT BOOK REVIEWS 4 1/2 Stars TOP PICK

EXCERPT:

I didn’t recognize the name on the street sign. Nothing about the rural road looked familiar or
friendly. Tall, imposing trees and overgrown weeds choked the front of the dilapidated home.
Windows were boarded up. There was a gaping hole where the front door had been. I shivered,
wanting to be far away from here…wherever here was.
Walking felt harder than it should be, and I stumbled off the chilly asphalt, wincing as
sharp gravel dug into my feet.
My bare feet?
I stopped and looked down. Chipped pink nail polish peeked through the dirt…and blood.
Mud caked the legs of my pants, leaving the hems stiff. It made sense, seeing as how I wasn’t
wearing any shoes, but the blood…I didn’t understand why there was blood staining the knees of
my jeans.
My vision clouded and dulled, as if a gray film had been dropped over my eyes. As I
stared at the weathered asphalt under my feet, large and smooth rocks replaced the tiny stones.
Something dark and oily seeped over the rocks, slipping through the cracks.
Sucking in a sharp gasp, I blinked and the image was gone.
Hands trembling, I raised them. They were also covered with dirt and scratches. My nails
were broken, bloodied. A silver ring wrapped, encased in soil, around my thumb. Air froze in my
chest as my gaze crawled over my arms. The sleeves of my sweater were torn, revealing pale
flesh covered in bruises and gashes. My legs started to shake as I swayed forward. I tried to
remember how this had happened, but my head was empty—a black void where nothing existed.
A car drove by, coasting to a stop a few feet in front of me. Somewhere in the trenches of
my subconscious, I recognized the flashing red and blue lights as a source of safety. Elegantly
scrawled along the black-and-gray side of the cruiser were the words ADAMS COUNTY SHERIFF’S
DEPARTMENT.
Adams County? A flash of familiarity came and went.
The driver’s door opened, and a deputy stepped out. He said something into the radio on
his shoulder before he looked at me.
“Miss?” He started around the cruiser, taking tentative steps. He looked young for a
deputy. Barely out of high school and able to carry a gun seemed wrong somehow. Was I in high
school? I didn’t know. “We’ve received some calls into dispatch concerning you,” he said
gently. “Are you okay?”
I tried to respond, but only a hoarse squeak came out. Clearing my throat, I winced as the
motion scratched and pulled. “I…I don’t know.”
“Okay.” The deputy held up his hands as he approached me, as if I were a skittish deer
about to bolt. “My name is Deputy Rhode. I’m here to help you. Do you know what you’re doing
out here?”
“No.” Knots formed in my belly. I didn’t even know where here was.
His smile strained. “What’s your name?”
My name? Everyone knew their name, but as I stared at the deputy, I couldn’t answer his
question. The knots started twisting more. “I don’t…I don’t know what my name is.”
He blinked, and the smile was completely gone. “You don’t remember anything?”
I tried again, concentrating on the empty space between my ears. That was how it felt.
And I knew that wasn’t good. My eyes started to tear up.
“Miss, it’s okay. We’ll get you taken care of.” He reached out, lightly taking hold of my
arm. “We’ll get this sorted.”
Deputy Rhode led me around the back of his cruiser. I didn’t want to sit behind the
Plexiglas, because I knew that wasn’t good. Only bad people sat behind the glass in police
cruisers. I wanted to object, but before I could say anything, he settled me into the seat and
wrapped a coarse blanket around my shoulders.
Before he locked me in the bad part of the car, he knelt and smiled reassuringly.
“Everything’s going to be okay.”
But I knew he was lying, trying to make me feel better. It didn’t work. How could
everything be okay when I didn’t know my own name?

Yeah, NOW I'm done. Don't forget to check out this book, and love it and snuggle with it before you go to bed tomorrow!

Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge

Excerpt:
The same kind of fool as I was, I supposed, because I knew he was my enemy and yet I, too, was taking comfort from the touch. His breath tickled against my neck. I took his hand in mine, weaving our fingers together; I told myself that I was here only because of my debt, that anyone, any warm body, would make me feel such peace. And wrapped in that peace, I fell asleep.

SUMMARY:
Since birth, Nyx has been betrothed to the evil ruler of her kingdom-all because of a foolish bargain struck by her father. And since birth, she has been in training to kill him.

With no choice but to fulfill her duty, Nyx resents her family for never trying to save her and hates herself for wanting to escape her fate. Still, on her seventeenth birthday, Nyx abandons everything she's ever known to marry the all-powerful, immortal Ignifex. Her plan? Seduce him, destroy his enchanted castle, and break the nine-hundred-year-old curse he put on her people.

But Ignifex is not at all what Nyx expected. The strangely charming lord beguiles her, and his castle-a shifting maze of magical rooms-enthralls her.

As Nyx searches for a way to free her homeland by uncovering Ignifex's secrets, she finds herself unwillingly drawn to him. Even if she could bring herself to love her sworn enemy, how can she refuse her duty to kill him? With time running out, Nyx must decide what is more important: the future of her kingdom, or the man she was never supposed to love.

Nyx have always known that she was the sacrifice for her father's deal with the Gentle King. A demon who asks for a daughter in exchange for her father's bargain. In one day, she broke her sister's heart and was whisked away into a castle with a mind of it's own. She met her new husband and as she explored the castle she realized what it truly was where she is really living. As she learned more about her husband and the secrets of her land she discovered the way to make everything right again.

I haven't read a good paranormal/fairytale in a while, and right off the bat I knew this will be one story that will pull me in. I started off slow and sweet... but with a sense of bitterness. Nyx is such a strong character that you get pulled in to her emotions right away. I turned page after page, unable to stop and when I did it left me breathless. There was suspense and action throughout the book. Mystery at every corner and of course, romance. I was able to watch as Nyx slowly fall for Ignifex and this mysterious love triangle in there may have muddled me a bit. This is definitely a good book to read by the fire or on a slow day. One that you would want to rush through to see what happens, however you need time to absorb every detail Hodge wrote down as many of it will lead up to the end.

I adored Nyx and how her relationship with her sister played out, I pitied and was annoyed by Astraia (Nyx's sister) then I was consumed by her thought of revenge and it led to me despising her. Nyx's family was complicated and what I liked about how Hodge wrote it out was making it not fully everything us, the readers, may want. Yet, there is still the sense of a good happily ever after ( not completely... ). In my opinion many books that affect me are those with a strong and unique ending that fit the book and I found this one to be the case.

I would highly recommend this to any one who adores fairytales and retellings. Paranormal and romance. Fantasy and mystery.

AND YES THERE IS A BOOK TRAILER BY HARPERTEEN.
I hope you all enjoy this book as much as I do!

Happy READING! :)

Throne of Glass Book 3

Anyone ever heard of these books? They look just a tad bit creepy, don't they? Believe me, they are pretty damn scary books. When I first picked up Throne of Glass, I was thinking it would be your average supernatural YA kind of thing. Three words. OH HELL NO. Seriously. When I was done I was about to have nightmares! Those descriptions, just, ye gads it was terrifying! Picked up Crown of Midnight a couple months later. This time I thought it might be less creepy, because people usually say the second book never matches up to the first. Look at the three cap locked words up there. Same reaction second time around. I couldn't tear my eyes away from the book for a second. Not a dang second until I was done. Let me tell you something very important. Did it scare me out of my mind? Yes. Did it almost make my heart pound in fear in excitement? Absolutely. But did I love every second of it? You bet I did. By the time I was done the second, that ending? I just had to have the third. Just... oh my gosh. But few people have actually heard about the third. Do you wanna know? Do you? Do you? Of course you do!

Well, whether or not you want it, here it is! Heir of Fire is set to come out near September this year! Can you wait for it? I most certainly can't! But for now... I have to... *sniffles* it's so sad. I WANT IT NOW!!! But I can't have it...

So, to tide you all over - and me too - until the book comes out, I bring you book trailers!

How can you not love these, like seriously? I'm kinda freaked out just looking at them.
But for now, that's all I got, so, until next time!

Much love,

Another Little Piece by Kate Karyus Quinn

DESCRIPTION:

On a cool autumn night, Annaliese Rose Gordon stumbled out of the woods and into a high school party. She was screaming. Drenched in blood. Then she vanished.

A year later, Annaliese is found wandering down a road hundreds of miles away. She doesn't know who she is. She doesn't know how she got there. She only knows one thing: She is not the real Annaliese Rose Gordon.

Now Annaliese is haunted by strange visions and broken memories. Memories of a reckless, desperate wish . . . a bloody razor . . . and the faces of other girls who disappeared. Piece by piece, Annaliese's fractured memories come together to reveal a violent, endless cycle that she will never escape—unless she can unlock the twisted secrets of her past.

When I had first read the summary, I only read up to the second paragraph. I expected it to be a good mystery with some romance (look at that cover... lone girl, looking far off to the distance- pretty much set for a contemporary romance!)

So at first it was alright the beginning, ok gotta set the book... and then it was Ok, dead... a boy that sees the future... some creepy stalker guy..

yeap... but as I continued reading about Anna/Annaliese I was slowly sucked into the story. However, THIS IS NOT A BOOK TO READ QUICKLY!!! I had to reread so many parts as I had rushed through parts wanting to get to the next section! do no, do not, do not do that!
As we continued to learn more about the story and how this all came to be, it was quite confusing. Poems in between situations are a nice touch... but really although there are some great reviews about this book out there, it really isn't my cup of tea. The story was much to slow for my liking and I find the characters to be thoroughly confusing. I thought that there would be so much more action and mystery... and there was a lot of mystery. Quinn continued to pile on the questions for us and then she tied most of the answers in a nice little bow in the ending. However, there is not enough action! I thought there would be so much more after learning about the past lives of Anna, instead I just see more confusing memories and the confusion on Annaliese.
I spent a majority of the book waiting and waiting for something to happen.. and it didn't until the end when Anna just showed them
and just kicked all the bad guys asses.

I think personally the ending was what really ruined me.. it was told in a third person's point of view and it was just completely lame... in my opinion... hey ... at least I finished the book..
I think I would recommend this to those who have tons of patience, personally I think it could've been better... and maybe if I had realized it was a paranormal book I would have had much more time to enjoy it... especially since I am  currently in a romance stage...

All in all:

OH AND THEY HAVE A TRAILER!!! HOPEFULLY THIS WILL INTEREST YOU! I have higher hopes for this book... may reread someday when I'm in the mood for a little mystery

Teresa Hamilton is having a rough year—she's in love with her big brother's best friend, but he hasn't spoken to her since they shared a truly amazing, mind-blowing, life-changing kiss. Then she got out of a terrible relationship. Now an injury is threatening to end her dance career for good. It's time for plan B: college. And maybe she'll have a chance to convince Jase that what they have together is real.

Jace shrugged. “Guys don’t let other guys keep calling other guys. Okay, that came out wrong. Friends don’t let friends keep calling their exes and hanging up. Seriously. You have to stop.”
Alec looked furious. “So you broke my brand new phone? Thanks a lot.”
Jace smiled serenely and lay back on the grass. “You’re welcome.”

“We shouldn’t,” protested Isabelle. “The Clave has a plan.”
“The Clave has the collective intelligence of a pineapple,” said Jace.
Alec blinked up at them. “Jace is right.”
Isabelle turned on her brother. “What do you know? You weren’t even paying attention.”
“I was,” Alec said, injured. “I said Jace was right.”
“Yeah, but there’s like a 90% chance of me being right most of the time, so that’s not proof you were listening,” said Jace. “That’s just a good guess.”

“Magnus rolled onto his back and put his feet up on the arm of the sofa. “What do you care if Alec’s miserable?”
“What do I care?” Jace said, so loudly that Chairman Meow rolled off the couch and landed on the floor. “Of course I care about Alec; he’s my best friend, my parabatai. And he’s unhappy. And so are you, by the look of things. Takeout containers everywhere, you haven’t done anything to fix up the place, your cat looks dead —“
“He’s not dead.”

“Isabelle tugged her tank top back down and glared at her brother. “You don’t knock now?”
“It’s my bedroom!” Alec spluttered.”

“Alec pulled his knees up to his chest and looked thoughtfully at Jace. “I know,” he said. “I’m not jealous. I always knew, from the first, that everyone thought you were better than me. My dad thought it. The Clave thought it. Izzy and Max looked up to you as the great warrior they wanted to be like. But the day you asked me to be your parabatai, I knew you meant that you trusted me enough to ask me to help you. You were telling me that you weren’t this lone and self-sufficient warrior able to do everything alone. You needed me. So I realized that there was one person who didn’t assume you were better than me. You.”

So, I don't know about all of you, but I happen to be totally in love with Jace, despite the fact that he is a dickhead, and broken, and probably completely mental... Okay so maybe it doesn't make sense, but any of you reading probably loves him too, so no judging!

We'll definitely have more teasers coming up near the release date, but until then, this is all you get! If we're lucky, we'll post one quote a week until we get to the release date. Fingers cross these months go by quickly! I can hardly wait for this!

But until it comes out, keep reading, and keep falling in love with the characters

Much love,

Barely Breathing by Rebecca Donovan

“I breathed for you... I begged for you to breathe with every breath I gave to you. I kept pleading for you to breathe over and over again. And then… then you did."
~Evan, Barely Breathing

Emma’s struggle with an abusive home life came to a heart pounding conclusion in the final chapters of Reason to Breathe. Now everyone in Weslyn knows Emma’s secret, but Carol can’t hurt Emma anymore. Some are still haunted by the horror of that night, and some must face the repercussions of their choices. Fans of Rebecca Donovan’s debut novel will discover there’s still much to learn about Emma’s life.

Arya: There are just too many things to say. I can't get it out on the screen or I swear you'll be reading for an hour... or more. No promises. Anyway, from my last post, you probably know that I was like almost crying to get this book in my hands. I was begging, and screaming to go to the library, and when I got it... I was horribly disappointed. That was the first emotion I felt upon opening the book. Seriously, what happened to the scene with her waking up?! Or getting saved for that matter? That happened through a lot of the book actually... the scenes with the most action were either skipped over or had too little description to completely satisfy me. Still, it was something I could look over when I read the actual book. Admittedly, it wasn't as great as the first one, but it was still pretty damn good! There was a little less of a need to cry, but there was still enough of it to make me swoon now. Thinking back on it just makes me want to read it again... or go out to buy the series. You should do that. Seriously. It was one hell of a boss book. The emotions it took me through just made me fall in love with the characters all over again, except for Emma. Her I wasn't so hot about during this book. Like, I get it and all, but damn. It's hard to wrap my mind around even though I'd probably be doing the same thing if thrust in her situation.
Evan: Let's start with him, because I like him. This book just... I don't really know how it made me feel. I was indignant on his behalf, I was freaking PISSED OFF for him, and most of all, I was sad about what was going on with Emma behind his back. His instincts were spot on, but his trust in her? Perhaps a bit misplaced. Not to say that she didn't deserve it, but she didn't deserve it nearly that much. At the end though, during the fight? Man, that boy might have been a bit immature and letting his emotions rule him, but having a guy for you is always hot, but it bothered me a bit. He let his emotions get in the way of his usual logical thinking. Of course, he was under the impression that his girlfriend was cheating on him with his mother's boyfriend of all people, but really, he could have at least listened to Emma... it didn't help that Jonathan was majorly provoking him though. That I can't really blame.
Emma: So many times. So many damn freaking times in this book I wanted to smack the living daylights out of her! Like seriously! All that stuff I said in my last review about her being noble and stuff? Yeah, totally take that back now. It's almost like she's incapable of finding middle ground, varying between noble to a fault and unbelievably selfish. This was on the bad end of the spectrum. Of course, after all that's happened to her, maybe she deserved some time to be like that, but man, that was taking it way too far. I mean, trust Jonathan over Evan? I could have slapped her. Again, I can't exactly blame her; Jonathan did kind of share her experiences, so perhaps she felt a kinship with him. But still, she shouldn't have gotten so close to him! He was dating her mother for goodness sakes! And while I'm on the topic of her mother, my heart just broke for Emma when dear Mommy came into the picture. What kind of mother blames her own daughter for her husband's death? I was almost jumping with joy when the Charles came in to talk about her father's inheritance for her. I was that happy. Her mother didn't deserve that title. She was horrible. She should have stayed the hell away from Emma, or at least not given her up! The poor girl went through hell because of her! Man, I hated her so much. She basically guilted her father into staying by saying she was pregnant with her child, just because she didn't want him to leave her. What a disgusting woman. Emma really got the bad hand with all the parental business. I wish I could rant some more, but I've already taken up a lot of room, so, let's end it off.
The ending... the damn ending. Again it made me beg for the last book. I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. What was Emma going to do after the fight? Was she going to leave Evan there? Or was she going to go get him help? He was wounded pretty badly after all. I just couldn't wait. Those words she said to Jonathan though, were damn harsh. She was weak in the first book and so noble it broke me, but in this one, she definitely became like a tiny ball of pure fury and agony. That's the best way I can think of to describe her. What other cause would you have to hurt the people closest to you?

Searching around in my brain, la la la, let's find a number!
9 stars out of 10! Congratulations!
What an amazing book!

Yeah... I couldn't find a book trailer for this one either, but next one, promise!
Until then, keep reading!
Much love,
