Richelle Mead Surprises!

For those who don't know, Homecoming is the story of Dimitri and Rose as they return to Baia to reunite the Belikov family... and to fight some more! Just hit the link below to read.

Homecoming by Richelle Mead

Arya: As I read this, all I could think about was how much this felt like fanfiction, not to say that fanfiction lacks elegance or a refinement that makes a story exceptional. Most of it seemed so predictable, especially with the part about Ivan not leaving. I would have liked to see Ivan become a strigoi himself, or for more humans to have popped up in the middle, but hey; I'm not the author. There were no real surprises in any part of the story, making for a rather sad Arya. The entire story just seemed so typical to me - Dimitri goes home, family reunion, fight strigoi, the end. The only part that truly amused me was when Dimitri got drunk! That little section had me laughing my head off, mostly because like most of the people who have read this, I was under the impression that the Russian God knew how to hold his liquor! Guess we were all wrong! Now, don't even get me started on the romance in this story. For starters, let's say there was almost none of it. There was so little chemistry between Rose and Dimitri, except in a few parts when they seem to read the others' thoughts, but that was the gist of it! There were no swooning, heart-pounding, lovey-dovey moments that made me want to sigh and want Dimitri to exist, nor were there many signs of the two of them in passionate embraces, hiding from the family to steal a few precious minutes alone with just the other for company. As a result, the story lacked that heart-stopping factor that Richelle is so good at, and just made the entire piece rather bland in flavour. Still, it was a rather decent story, and so...

Arya's mind says...
6 stars out of 10!

Arya: Adrian has always been one of my favourite characters, simply because he showed so much diversity! I loved how he went from drunk party boy, to completely devoted to Rose, and finally his heartbreak at the end when he realized she cheated on him. I felt really bad for him at that point, and this story, let me tell you, it might make a few of you come to hate the awesomeness that is Dimitri Belikov. Having read this, all I could think of was how well Richelle manipulated her reader's feelings! My heart beat with sorrow for all Adrian had gone through, first losing his grand aunt, then Rose dumping him, and finally almost everyone forgetting his birthday. I just wanted to go over there and give him a big hug until he begged me to let him go! Richelle absolutely excels and making her readers feel for the character of her choice. Throughout the story, it seemed that we were finally getting a peek into the mystery that is Adrian Ivashkov, and it was a dark, dreary place, unlike the usual upbeat, happy persona he gave off. The story takes us through his head on his birthday as he seems to only exist rather than living, having so many drinks each day he's only a "liquid only" diet. Seems like it sucks, doesn't it? Yeah, it does. Still, I absolutely loved this chapter! If you like things that involve maybe almost making you cry, click the link above!

Arya's 'genius' brain wants to say...
9 stars out of 10!!! YAY!!!

And last but not at all least... First chapter of The Fiery Heart!

Just hit the link above! No review will be given for this until the actual book itself is in our hands, and we have the full story in our minds. Enjoy! Much love,
