Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge

Excerpt:
The same kind of fool as I was, I supposed, because I knew he was my enemy and yet I, too, was taking comfort from the touch. His breath tickled against my neck. I took his hand in mine, weaving our fingers together; I told myself that I was here only because of my debt, that anyone, any warm body, would make me feel such peace. And wrapped in that peace, I fell asleep.

SUMMARY:
Since birth, Nyx has been betrothed to the evil ruler of her kingdom-all because of a foolish bargain struck by her father. And since birth, she has been in training to kill him.

With no choice but to fulfill her duty, Nyx resents her family for never trying to save her and hates herself for wanting to escape her fate. Still, on her seventeenth birthday, Nyx abandons everything she's ever known to marry the all-powerful, immortal Ignifex. Her plan? Seduce him, destroy his enchanted castle, and break the nine-hundred-year-old curse he put on her people.

But Ignifex is not at all what Nyx expected. The strangely charming lord beguiles her, and his castle-a shifting maze of magical rooms-enthralls her.

As Nyx searches for a way to free her homeland by uncovering Ignifex's secrets, she finds herself unwillingly drawn to him. Even if she could bring herself to love her sworn enemy, how can she refuse her duty to kill him? With time running out, Nyx must decide what is more important: the future of her kingdom, or the man she was never supposed to love.

Nyx have always known that she was the sacrifice for her father's deal with the Gentle King. A demon who asks for a daughter in exchange for her father's bargain. In one day, she broke her sister's heart and was whisked away into a castle with a mind of it's own. She met her new husband and as she explored the castle she realized what it truly was where she is really living. As she learned more about her husband and the secrets of her land she discovered the way to make everything right again.

I haven't read a good paranormal/fairytale in a while, and right off the bat I knew this will be one story that will pull me in. I started off slow and sweet... but with a sense of bitterness. Nyx is such a strong character that you get pulled in to her emotions right away. I turned page after page, unable to stop and when I did it left me breathless. There was suspense and action throughout the book. Mystery at every corner and of course, romance. I was able to watch as Nyx slowly fall for Ignifex and this mysterious love triangle in there may have muddled me a bit. This is definitely a good book to read by the fire or on a slow day. One that you would want to rush through to see what happens, however you need time to absorb every detail Hodge wrote down as many of it will lead up to the end.

I adored Nyx and how her relationship with her sister played out, I pitied and was annoyed by Astraia (Nyx's sister) then I was consumed by her thought of revenge and it led to me despising her. Nyx's family was complicated and what I liked about how Hodge wrote it out was making it not fully everything us, the readers, may want. Yet, there is still the sense of a good happily ever after ( not completely... ). In my opinion many books that affect me are those with a strong and unique ending that fit the book and I found this one to be the case.

I would highly recommend this to any one who adores fairytales and retellings. Paranormal and romance. Fantasy and mystery.

AND YES THERE IS A BOOK TRAILER BY HARPERTEEN.
I hope you all enjoy this book as much as I do!

Happy READING! :)

Throne of Glass Book 3

Anyone ever heard of these books? They look just a tad bit creepy, don't they? Believe me, they are pretty damn scary books. When I first picked up Throne of Glass, I was thinking it would be your average supernatural YA kind of thing. Three words. OH HELL NO. Seriously. When I was done I was about to have nightmares! Those descriptions, just, ye gads it was terrifying! Picked up Crown of Midnight a couple months later. This time I thought it might be less creepy, because people usually say the second book never matches up to the first. Look at the three cap locked words up there. Same reaction second time around. I couldn't tear my eyes away from the book for a second. Not a dang second until I was done. Let me tell you something very important. Did it scare me out of my mind? Yes. Did it almost make my heart pound in fear in excitement? Absolutely. But did I love every second of it? You bet I did. By the time I was done the second, that ending? I just had to have the third. Just... oh my gosh. But few people have actually heard about the third. Do you wanna know? Do you? Do you? Of course you do!

Well, whether or not you want it, here it is! Heir of Fire is set to come out near September this year! Can you wait for it? I most certainly can't! But for now... I have to... *sniffles* it's so sad. I WANT IT NOW!!! But I can't have it...

So, to tide you all over - and me too - until the book comes out, I bring you book trailers!

How can you not love these, like seriously? I'm kinda freaked out just looking at them.
But for now, that's all I got, so, until next time!

Much love,

Another Little Piece by Kate Karyus Quinn

DESCRIPTION:

On a cool autumn night, Annaliese Rose Gordon stumbled out of the woods and into a high school party. She was screaming. Drenched in blood. Then she vanished.

A year later, Annaliese is found wandering down a road hundreds of miles away. She doesn't know who she is. She doesn't know how she got there. She only knows one thing: She is not the real Annaliese Rose Gordon.

Now Annaliese is haunted by strange visions and broken memories. Memories of a reckless, desperate wish . . . a bloody razor . . . and the faces of other girls who disappeared. Piece by piece, Annaliese's fractured memories come together to reveal a violent, endless cycle that she will never escape—unless she can unlock the twisted secrets of her past.

When I had first read the summary, I only read up to the second paragraph. I expected it to be a good mystery with some romance (look at that cover... lone girl, looking far off to the distance- pretty much set for a contemporary romance!)

So at first it was alright the beginning, ok gotta set the book... and then it was Ok, dead... a boy that sees the future... some creepy stalker guy..

yeap... but as I continued reading about Anna/Annaliese I was slowly sucked into the story. However, THIS IS NOT A BOOK TO READ QUICKLY!!! I had to reread so many parts as I had rushed through parts wanting to get to the next section! do no, do not, do not do that!
As we continued to learn more about the story and how this all came to be, it was quite confusing. Poems in between situations are a nice touch... but really although there are some great reviews about this book out there, it really isn't my cup of tea. The story was much to slow for my liking and I find the characters to be thoroughly confusing. I thought that there would be so much more action and mystery... and there was a lot of mystery. Quinn continued to pile on the questions for us and then she tied most of the answers in a nice little bow in the ending. However, there is not enough action! I thought there would be so much more after learning about the past lives of Anna, instead I just see more confusing memories and the confusion on Annaliese.
I spent a majority of the book waiting and waiting for something to happen.. and it didn't until the end when Anna just showed them
and just kicked all the bad guys asses.

I think personally the ending was what really ruined me.. it was told in a third person's point of view and it was just completely lame... in my opinion... hey ... at least I finished the book..
I think I would recommend this to those who have tons of patience, personally I think it could've been better... and maybe if I had realized it was a paranormal book I would have had much more time to enjoy it... especially since I am  currently in a romance stage...

All in all:

OH AND THEY HAVE A TRAILER!!! HOPEFULLY THIS WILL INTEREST YOU! I have higher hopes for this book... may reread someday when I'm in the mood for a little mystery
